20 Best Hotels Near the Barcelona Cruise Port (Moll Adossat & WTC)

A cruise changes the hotel maths completely. You are not picking a base for a week of sightseeing — you are landing, usually the day before “just to be safe”, with big cases, a ship that starts boarding late morning, and a boarding pass that waits for nobody. What you actually need is a good night’s sleep, a room that swallows luggage, an early breakfast and a short, predictable ride to the right terminal. Everything else is a bonus.

Here is the honest geography first, because plenty of “port hotel” lists skip it. There are no hotels on Moll Adossat itself — it is a working wharf of port roads, fences and terminal halls, and nobody sleeps there. Barcelona’s cruise berths come in two zones: the long Adossat wharf (terminals A, B, C, D Palacruceros and E Helix, plus the MSC terminal), where almost every big ship now berths, and the World Trade Center’s South terminal, used by a shrinking number of smaller ships. So the practical bases are the port zone itself, the Passeig de Colom and Port Vell waterfront, Poble Sec and Avinguda del Paral·lel, and the southern old town up La Rambla — and every hotel below is 15 minutes or less by taxi from Moll Adossat, ordered closest first.

Flying in for a sailing? The airport sits on the far side of Montjuïc, about 25 minutes by taxi from the hotels on this list — our Barcelona Airport Guide covers that run in detail. And if you land early enough to have a real day in the city before you sail, Best Things to Do in Barcelona is the list we would work through.

The Area at a Glance

The Adossat terminals stretch along a wharf reached by the Porta d’Europa bridge, and they are not equal: A and B sit noticeably closer to the city than E and the MSC terminal at the far end, which is why two passengers “going to the port” can have very different rides. The WTC South terminal, a quarter of a mile from the Columbus Monument at the foot of La Rambla, is the only berth in the city you can genuinely walk to — but the port is steadily consolidating everything onto Moll Adossat, so trust the terminal printed in your cruise documents over any guide, this one included, and check it again the week you sail.

No metro line reaches the terminals. The official link is the blue T3 Portbus (the “Cruisebus”), which runs from the Columbus Monument to every Adossat terminal for roughly €3 one-way or €4.50 return, cash only, timed to meet ships rather than to a fixed timetable. It is a good system with light luggage and a poor one with two big cases, which is why this list is ordered by taxi time: expect roughly €10 from the old town to the nearer berths and a few euros more to the far end of the wharf. The metro stations that matter for the stay itself are Drassanes (L3) and Paral·lel (L2/L3), both a short walk from the Columbus Monument and the Portbus stop.

The 20 Best Hotels Near the Barcelona Cruise Port

Ordered closest first, starting inside the port zone itself. Times are by taxi to Moll Adossat in normal traffic; if your documents name the WTC South terminal instead, knock a few minutes off most of them — and in the first case, take them away entirely.

1. Eurostars Grand Marina

Inside the World Trade Center itself — a walk to the WTC South terminal, about 5–8 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. This is the only hotel in Barcelona where a cruise terminal sits in the same complex as your room: 291 rooms wrapped around the WTC’s courtyards, harbour views, a seasonal outdoor pool and a 24-hour gym. If your ship berths at the WTC, your “transfer” is an elevator and a stroll; if it berths on Adossat, it is still one of the shortest hops in the city.

2. W Barcelona

About 10 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat — the closest big hotel to the cruise wharf. The glass sail on the Barceloneta breakwater stands practically at the port’s front door, and cruisers book it to turn a staging night into the first night of the holiday: pools, a spa, a beach at your feet and rooms that look straight out to sea or back over the harbour. It is a splurge, unapologetically — but for a honeymoon sailing or a once-a-decade trip, it earns it.

3. Hotel Duquesa de Cardona

About 8–10 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. A 16th-century palace on Passeig de Colom, directly opposite Port Vell, with some 60 rooms, a rooftop terrace and two small pools looking over the masts. It has the calm, polished feel of a house that has been receiving travellers for centuries — because it has — and La Rambla is two minutes’ walk in one direction, El Born’s dinner tables five in the other.

4. Serras Barcelona

About 8–10 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. A small, immaculate five-star in a Passeig de Colom building with a Picasso past, facing Port Vell, with a sixth-floor rooftop pool that might be the prettiest place in the city to watch the harbour lights come on. Rooms are few and the service is personal; this is the couples’ pick of the waterfront, and the taxi rank outside puts the ship ten minutes away when the time comes.

5. H10 Port Vell

About 10 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. A crisp modern four-star on Pas de Sota Muralla, in the seam between Port Vell and El Born, topped by the Mare Nostrum rooftop terrace with its plunge pool and marina views. Book it when the pre-cruise evening matters as much as embarkation morning: some of the old town’s best restaurants are on your doorstep, and the port is a straight run down the waterfront.

6. Hotel Miramar Barcelona

About 10 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat, down the Montjuïc hill road. A 1929 palace set in gardens on the port side of Montjuïc, with indoor and outdoor pools and a spa — and a breakfast terrace from which you can quite literally look down and spot your ship waiting below. It feels like a resort that happens to overlook a cruise port. The hill is the catch: wonderful for views, not a walk to attempt with suitcases, so budget the taxi and enjoy the serenity.

7. INNSiDE Barcelona Apolo

About 8–10 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat, straight down Avinguda del Paral·lel. Long-time cruisers knew this address as the Hotel Barcelona Apolo; Meliá rebuilt it inside (€8 million’s worth) and reopened it under the INNSiDE name in 2023, all 314 rooms of it, with Paral·lel metro at the door. The reason it ranks this high is the road outside: Paral·lel runs directly to the port roundabout, so on embarkation morning this is the simplest ride in Barcelona — and the big loft-style rooms and theatre-district tapas bars make the night before easy too.

8. Andante Hotel

About 10 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat — and five minutes’ walk from the Columbus Monument Portbus stop. A smart, fairly priced three-star superior on Avinguda de les Drassanes, 134 rooms, with a rooftop pool and the feature cruisers quietly love most: a self-service laundry, gold before or after a long trip. La Rambla is five minutes on foot, the port a short hop, and the whole thing runs with an efficiency that puts pricier neighbours to shame.

9. Acta Mimic Hotel

About 10 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. A design-led three-star tucked into a former variety theatre on Carrer de l’Arc del Teatre, a narrow lane off the Drassanes end of the old town, with a rooftop terrace taking in the city and the sea. The theatrical bones give the rooms character you do not get from the chains, the lane keeps it quieter than the Rambla a few streets over, and the rates stay friendly this close to the water.

10. Hotel Grums Barcelona

About 10 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. A relaxed four-star on Carrer de Palaudàries in Poble Sec, all local streets and morning coffee bars, with the Serena Spa’s water circuit downstairs (check whether your rate includes access), proper family rooms and Montjuïc’s funicular a short stroll away. Carrer de Blai’s pintxos bars are five minutes off for the last dinner ashore, and the port is a straight run down Paral·lel in the morning.

11. Hotel Onix Liceo

About 12 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. On Carrer Nou de la Rambla, a quiet side street a few steps from the Liceu opera house, with the rarity of a small pool at this price and rooms noticeably larger than the Rambla average. Drassanes metro is four minutes away, which puts you one stop from the Columbus Monument and the Portbus if you are travelling light — and the street’s calm is a genuine gift the night before an early start.

12. Hotel España

About 12 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. Sleeping in a modernista landmark the night before you sail is a very Barcelona way to start a Mediterranean cruise: Hotel España, on Carrer de Sant Pau by the Liceu, keeps its Domènech i Montaner interiors — the mermaid mosaics, the grand dining room now run as Fonda España — and adds thoroughly modern rooms behind them. History, comfort and a short morning taxi: a fine combination.

13. Petit Palace Boqueria Garden

About 12 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. A 19th-century palace just off La Rambla, named for the Boqueria market on its corner — and hiding the thing nobody expects two minutes from the market crowds: a genuine garden, where breakfast is served in the quiet. Family rooms with bunk beds make it a strong pick with children, and the market itself is the place to stock up on Catalan treats before you board.

14. Grand Hotel Central

About 12 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. A sleek five-star in a 1920s landmark on Via Laietana, with the Gothic Quarter on one side and El Born on the other and a rooftop infinity pool floating over both. It is the polished, business-class option of the old town — and geographically kinder to cruisers than it looks, because the taxi drops straight down to Passeig de Colom and runs along the waterfront to the port.

15. Hotel 1898

About 15 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. La Rambla’s grand classic, built as the Philippines Tobacco Company’s headquarters and named for the year Spain lost its last colonies, with colonial-style rooms, a rooftop pool for the sunset and a second pool in the spa below. If you want the famous boulevard on your doorstep for one evening — the Boqueria, the Liceu, the flower stalls — this is its best address, and the Portbus stop at the bottom of the Rambla is a three-minute walk for light packers.

16. Le Méridien Barcelona

About 15 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. Marriott’s five-star on La Rambla, a few doors from Hotel 1898, and the dependable international-standard choice: cruisers collecting or spending points start here. Ask for a high floor on the courtyard side if you are a light sleeper, keep the Rambla-facing rooms for the people-watching, and let the concierge book the morning taxi the night before — they do it a hundred times a week in season.

17. Hotel SERHS Rivoli Rambla

About 15 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. A solid, welcoming four-star near the top of La Rambla — 126 rooms and a rooftop terrace — with Plaça Catalunya, the city’s great transport hub, at the end of the street. That hub is the point for cruisers: the Aerobus and the airport trains make the flying leg painless, taxis queue around the clock, and the ride to the ship is a straight quarter-hour down the Rambla’s side streets and along the waterfront.

18. Hotel Montecarlo Barcelona

About 15 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. A Rambla institution since the 1940s, at number 124 between Plaça Catalunya and the Liceu — classic, calm and quietly elegant, with a rooftop terrace above the boulevard’s noise. It has been putting travellers to bed on this street for the better part of a century, cruisers very much included, and its mid-boulevard position makes both the evening stroll and the morning departure equally easy.

19. Hotel Continental Barcelona

About 15 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. The characterful budget end of this list: a family-run house at the top of La Rambla, famous among repeat cruisers for its round-the-clock complimentary buffet — land at midnight after a delayed flight and you can still eat something before bed. Rooms are simple, many with little balconies over the Rambla, and the welcome is the warmest on the boulevard. For a one-night staging stop, that arithmetic is hard to beat.

20. Hotel Lleo

About 15 minutes by taxi to Moll Adossat. A step off Plaça Catalunya on Carrer de Pelai: soundproofed modern rooms, a rooftop pool and terrace, and every transport link in the city — metro, Aerobus, trains, taxis — at the door. It is the practical traveller’s old-town pick, and if you are staying on after the cruise and want the fuller neighbourhood picture, our Where to Stay in Barcelona guide breaks the areas down properly.

What “Near the Port” Really Means

Three honest notes before you book. First, the extra night is the whole game: flying in on sailing morning saves one hotel bill and risks the entire holiday on a single flight’s punctuality, which is why almost every cruiser on this list books the night before — we would too. Second, your terminal matters more than your hotel: the Adossat berths stretch the best part of a mile along the wharf, so a sailing from Terminal A and a sailing from the MSC terminal are different mornings; leave the buffer, and let the hotel book your taxi for 30 minutes earlier than feels necessary. Third, if your documents say World Trade Center, enjoy the luck — you are in the only part of the port where the old town is a waterfront stroll away and the first hotel on this list is in the building. And coming back: ships dock early and El Prat is 25 minutes away, but noon is the earliest flight we would book after a sailing. The last morning deserves a slow breakfast, not a dash.

Final Thoughts

You cannot sleep at Barcelona’s cruise port — but you can sleep this close to it, and the difference between a strained sailing morning and a smug one is rarely more than a €10 taxi ride. Pick by terminal first, taxi time second and rooftop pool third, book the night before rather than the morning of, and let the ship be the least stressful part of the day.
